I’ve been trying to lose fat after gaining weight late last year, but the scales have been stubborn!
I thought I could just eat like I did 10 years ago (when I was 8kg lighter!)… but that didn’t work.
Why?
Hormones
I don’t eat plant-based anymore
I want more protein
I train differently (less cardio, more strength)
So yes, I may weigh more – but I want that to be muscle ![]()
What I’m doing now:
4 strength sessions/week
1 long run
Cycling + walking commute
Couch to 5K with the kids
Considering a weekly 15-min HIIT
Biggest changes lately:
Mindful eating
No snacking after dinner
More variety for gut health
Drinking more
Fasting when it suits my body
Progress? Slow! The scales are inching down and I’m taking measurements. But more than that, I’m:
Making strength gains
Feeling more in control
Tackling stress/boredom eating
Aiming for long-term habit change
No rush. Just building a lifestyle that works for now.
