She’s been part of Team Barbelles on a Monday for 2 WHOLE YEARS!!
At 6 months she told me she’s never lasted this long at ANY exercise before.
Tracy is in her 50’s and a Special Needs teacher.
She has always hated organised exercise, the experience of being picked last at school had left deep scars.
She suffered terribly with sciatica .
She’s menopausal
She’d tried lots of different types of exercise classes before… and never stuck to anything
She had good intentions but always felt like the ‘fat unco-ordinated one” and would come up with a good excuse not to return .
She found big group exercise very stressful and struggled massively with self esteem
But she had reached a time of life where she knew she had to do *something* or she would be looking at an unhealthy and difficult future .
She was also suffering with chronic sciatica
She came to me with low expectations ![]()
6 months later and she was still here, which was the longest she’d ever stuck to any exercise before in her life!!
2 years later and she’s *still* here!!!
And:
Her sciatica has almost gone !
She’s found she loves lifting weights!
Her core strength has significantly improved (and she didn’t need to do a load of sit-ups!)
Her self confidence has come on leaps and bounds and she’s PROUD of what she’s achieved
Tracy has learnt that:
She just needed the right approach
With a bit of encouragement and guidance, she was able to find something that worked for her
That not all coaches shout at you!!
That small group exercise can be good for the soul as well as the body
She IS capable of sticking to something after all!!
No one is judging her
It’s been such a pleasure to be part of Tracy’s journey and see the transformation it’s had on her well being as well as her body ![]()
Amazing work Tracy!! I know it’s not been an easy journey.
