Coach Naomi Mcclure joined the team last year.
Who is she?
- Although she’s been in Bristol the past 25 years, she was raised in Birmingham and a brummy at heart
- She always wanted to be an actress when she grew up
- She has a Diploma in Animal Husbandry (as well as Personal Training and Gym Instructing – don’t worry!)
- She forced herself onto the boys football team at school when girls weren’t allowed to play
- She’s had a career in wildlife and environmental conservation – including time spent in Africa catching Leopards (!)
- She really hates marmite !
Why did you become a Personal Trainer?
“Whilst it’s a huge departure from my career so far – I had decided I needed a big change to how I was living and take a chance.
I have ALWAYS been keen on keeping fit and love the way it makes me feel.
I have adapted my exercise through the years and life stages – pregnancy, post natal, busy mum and now menopause.
I absolutely love it and have an endless desire to learn more as the science changes.
I have experienced how utterly connected our physical state and how we can engage with all parts of our lives is – if I feel physically strong then I feel stronger about everything in my life.
The chance to help other people have this is what made me want to become a PT. It can be transformational.”
What do you love about your job?
“Meeting lots of different people and finding ways to adapt exercises to suit them.
Seeing people progress.
Being part of a community with similar goals and interests.
I also love that I am not sitting at a desk any more and can be much more active myself.”
What do you like doing in your spare time?
“I love taking my dog for long walks.
I am a member of a book club and love reading (any book suggestions always welcome!). I also like cooking”
What’s your fave kind of person to work with?
“Someone who is willing to give stuff a go, is curious about why they’re doing it and not too worried about getting it wrong.”
Welcome Naomi !
