“I knew if I was to be left to my own devices I would struggle with motivation.”
This is Megan. She recently retired after 40 years as a Librarian.
- She’s always been healthy with no particular issues.
- She’s a keen walker and generally active.
However, after a few months of stopping work, she developed a bad back.
After a visit to the physio, she was told that her body was missing carting around and shifting heavy books all day and she needed to do some weight bearing exercise! ![]()
Megan did not want the commercial gym experience.
She knew that if she went to a commercial gym, she would really struggle to motivate herself.
Megan is new to lifting weights and was feeling a bit self conscious.
She was worried she was un coordinated and this affected her self confidence.
“I’m in a lovely small group where we all try our best and encourage one another. It’s not competitive.”
Megan needed:
To lift weights
Have some guidance on technique
Motivation to turn up
Somewhere quiet and not intimidating
Encouragement from others
Local and therefore easier to get out the door !
She’s only been here 6 weeks and already she:
Is moving much better
Has more confidence
Recovery is much quicker
And she’s feeling ‘less wobbly!’
Great to have you part of the team Megan and to see how you’re all supporting each other in the small group.
Those wall sits and planks will get easier with time – honest!!
