She’s a chemistry teacher.
She has a full on timetable which I’m sure all the teachers here can sympathise with!
Sarah is quite active.
She has good health.
However, she doesn’t do any strength training.
She walks, runs, skis but has never worked with weights before.
She realised that she’s not getting any younger and that if she wants to carry on with these activities for as long as she can, she better start some strength training now! ![]()
Sarah’s biggest challenge has been finding the time.
It’s not her favourite way to exercise. And when there’s mountains of marking to do each evening together with her other commitments outside work, it just felt impossible to commit to.
“I need to do some strength training. I know it’s an important investment in my future”
However, we managed to find a time each week that she could attend and on our recent catch up, she said she’s really chuffed that she’s managed to prioritise and get out when there’s so many other demands on her time!
“Training in a small group has been the thing that has helped to motivate me to keep going. It’s fun and not too serious and it’s helpful to work with other people and be inspired by them. It helps to keep me accountable which I find really helpful.”
It’s been a learning curve for Sarah.
These were new movements.
She had no idea where to start or which weights to use.
She really appreciates the technique feedback from the coach and this gives her confidence to push herself more each week.
“For me it’s a really good balance between being personal so I feel supported and challenged but also ‘social’ so it doesn’t feel intimidating and is more enjoyable!”
