We were having an interesting chat recently in one of the AM sessions.
In this particular group, they’re all in their 60’s and 70’s and for most, this type of exercise, working with weights, is fairly new to them.
A couple of them are relatively new Grandparents and they’ve been surprised at just how tired they are trying to keep up with the grandchildren which is what their motivation was to start training!
Gill walked in saying
‘I don’t think I’m ever going to ENJOY this exercise, but I think I’m OK with that as neither did Michael Mosely’’. “And I know it’s doing me good”.
Sometimes, actually, there’s lots of things in our life that we may not enjoy, but we know it’s good for us. Like brushing your teeth.
If we want the results, we need to do the work.
There are ways to make it more FUN though! (or at least less unenjoyable!)
Making it SOCIAL really helps!
Turning up isn’t just about going through a series of exercises so you can write down in your book each week (though it is helpful!).
It’s about showing up and connecting with your team; cheering each other on and CONSISTENCY which is absolutely essential in making progress ![]()

Doing it with others who are all there for the same reasons is really motivational too which all helps with sticking to it as you’re not always going to feel like it!
