This is Alex. She joined us about 18 months ago.

She’s 72 years old and a recently retired landscape architect 👩‍🌾

She has always been active as part of her day to day life.

*“I was always outside a lot and navigating building sites, extensive landscapes and wild places”*

She also swims regularly 🏊‍♀️

Despite being active and in good health, she knew she was losing strength; it was just an inevitable part of getting older.

She knew she had to start actively working on it if she was to keep being active and healthy!

When I first met Alex, she was really struggling with her hip and was waiting for a replacement.

She was very cautious.

She was in pain.

She was unsure of what she should and shouldn’t be doing.

She was going along to a pain management course pre op and met someone there who recommended our small groups (Sue Timmis)

“Small group training suits me because we exercise in a very supportive and encouraging group. I have always felt safe in Polly’s classes, and that she has eyes on us all, making sure we are doing exercises optimally’

Eventually Alex had her hip replacement.

She was very good at doing her physio exercises afterwards and returned a couple months later a new woman! ✨

She has that confidence now to challenge herself.

She knows when she can push a little harder.

Her movement and mobility has greatly improved.

It’s great to see her bouncing in, raring to go!

Well done Alex, all that hard work is paying off! 💪
