I’m sorry to say that there is not an exercise that will get rid of your tummy. (Or an exercise to get rid of your bingo wings for that matter!)

I know it’s not what you want to hear!

But you can do something about changing your body shape over all and improving your health, physically and mentally.

I work with lots of women in particular who are learning not to just rely on the scales; they just give part of the picture 🧐

I encourage people to use different ways of measuring progress 📈

This can include photos, using a piece of clothing and how it feels and taking measurements 📏

Often people want to lose weight to look better 👀, feel better and to be healthier.

The scales don’t measure any of these things!

If you’d like to lose more fat around your middle or just generally fat loss, you need to do resistance exercise 🏋️‍♀️.

Resistance means exercises using weights, bands or even your own bodyweight.

The NHS recommends that *everyone* does at least 2 sessions of resistance training per week, but this is especially important for older women where weight bearing exercise also helps prevent Osteoporosis 🦴

You don’t necessarily need to do hours of strength exercises each week.

Just 10 mins here and there throughout the week will all help.

But don’t just focus on core exercises to burn fat.

You need to build muscle EVERYWHERE!

So don’t stop doing those sit ups and core exercises, (if you are doing them!) it’s all good but no need to just focus on one area; you need it all!
